Information Modeling Methods and Methodologies

The aim of this ebook is to disseminate the learn effects and most sensible perform from researchers and practitioners attracted to and dealing on modeling tools and methodologies. even though the necessity for such stories is definitely famous, there's a paucity of such study within the literature. What particularly distinguishes this ebook is that it appears at quite a few learn domain names and parts comparable to firm, procedure, target, object-orientation, facts, specifications, ontology, and part modeling, to supply an outline of present methods and most sensible practices in those conceptually closely-related fields.

Metaclasses and Their Application: Data Model Tailoring and Database Integration

Traditional object-oriented information versions are closed: even though they permit clients to outline application-specific periods, and they include a set set of modelling primitives. This constitutes a tremendous challenge, as various program domain names, e. g. database integration or multimedia, want distinct aid.

Developing Quality Complex Database Systems: Practices, Techniques and Technologies

The target of constructing caliber advanced Database structures is to supply possibilities for bettering contemporary database structures utilizing cutting edge improvement practices, instruments and strategies. every one bankruptcy of this booklet will supply perception into the potent use of database expertise via versions, case experiences or adventure experiences.

Designing Sorting Networks: A New Paradigm

Designing Sorting Networks: a brand new Paradigm presents an in-depth advisor to maximizing the potency of sorting networks, and makes use of 0/1 circumstances, in part ordered units and Haase diagrams to heavily study their habit in a simple, intuitive demeanour. This e-book additionally outlines new principles and strategies for designing quicker sorting networks utilizing Sortnet, and illustrates how those strategies have been used to layout quicker 12-key and 18-key sorting networks via a chain of case stories.

Their promise is to deliver tangible business benefits in terms of cost reduction, operational excellence, customer satisfaction, or product innovation. Such programs involve harmonization of significant parts of the business processes in different business units and system integration across data centers. Even if the scope is not the whole enterprise, EA is still required in such initiatives, since we need to instill a shared vision and a structured approach while managing the complexity involved.

The TOGAF framework, for example, uses the term principle instead of maxim. But principles are defined as “general rules and guidelines [. ] that inform and support the way in which an organization sets about fulfilling its mission” (The Open Group, 2009, p. 265). Thus, principle can in practice be regarded as a synonym for maxim. Principles are identified in the Preliminary and Architecture Vision phases of the TOGAFTM ADM, and they form a foundation for the subsequent architecture definition endeavor.

ArchiMate therefore is a perfect fit for modeling the architecture layers along the phases of the TOGAF Architecture Development Method. Figure 3-8 shows an example of how ArchiMate models a simplified pickup and delivery process that belongs to the core express business of any logistics company: Customers can ring up a call center and request the pickup of a parcel from some place in order to get it transported to a destination address. The standard distinguishes three modeling layers—namely the business, application, and technology layers; they are depicted by different shadings in Figure 3-8.
